Why should we do full body workouts?
I absolutely love full body workouts, especially when I am restricted by time.
This is because with full body exercises we are using more muscles in one single
movement. The more muscles we use, the larger the calorie burn! This is perfect
if your goals are toning or weight loss. Furthermore, the resistance exercises you
are performing help to stimulate muscle growth. This growth results in body
tone and an increased metabolism. Don’t be scared ladies it is very hard to get
bulky muscles so do not be afraid of that.
How often do I train full body?
Depending on your current workout schedule and fitness ability, I would
recommend training full body 1-2 times per week. Below you will find my
recommendation for scheduling the workouts within this 3 post series.
Here are some of the key exercises you can incorporate into your routine. I have
created a workout, which you can complete at home or in the gym. If you want to
use this workout in combination with other exercises that is an option too!
Full body tip: Core engagement! Did you know that it is important to engage
your core throughout every single exercise you perform? This helps keep
technique and prevent injury. To do this you want to draw your belly button in
towards your spine, as you do that lift your pelvic floor up and engage the
muscles. This takes practice so don’t beat yourself up if you forget to do it
sometimes. Train yourself to do it every time you breathe out and it will become
a habit in no time.
